Oceanfront House,
Fire Island NY.
This house is in the form of two interpenetrating cubes: the taller cube diagonal to the shore. Like most Ocean houses, it is an upside down house: living areas are upstairs. But all five bedrooms have ocean views and deck access.

Sketch of Decks |
<This study shows the perimeter decks and exterior stairs. Note that the roof is not flat: the upper parapet conceals a roof deck and sloped roofs parrallel to the tops of the triangular windows.
>The shape of the house is inherently rigid to resist hurricane forces. Custom concealed steel structural connectors transfer loads at the top of the interior columns. |
